About Comitti

Factory History

The Comitti Boatyard was established in 1956 beside the idyllic shores of Lake Como by Mario Comitti, where building wooden speed boats transformed a passion into a longstanding family business. The Comitti fleet epitomises both contemporary and classical Italian designs across four different model families; Breva, Venezia, Isola & Di Legno.

Working closely with our owners throughout the semi-bespoke construction of each boat allows us to understand their desires and requests. Whether it be a superyacht tender or family coastal cruiser, our team of craftsmen embrace and maintain traditional skills, whilst utilising modern production techniques to construct your Comitti.

This is personified by being the sole remaining Italian boat builder of classical wooden speed boats. Today the Di Legno boats represent a very small fraction of overall production but maintain our core values and the unique lifestyle choice a Comitti boat represents to our proud owners.

1956

Our Heritage

Mario Comitti establishes the Comitti Boat Yard in the Lagio Province of Lake Como and began building high speed launches. Constructed entirely in wood, combining traditional craftsmanship & what would later become the iconic styling of that time period. Mr Comitti made a significant contribution to the romantic imagery of Italian wooden speed boats from that era that are so dearly coveted in the present day.

1977

Father to Son

Elia Comitti, Mario’s son took over ownership and management responsibility for the company in the late 1970s. Elia grew up racing the boats his father built, that passion for speed was expressed in the boats that were developed during this time. His continued desire to race forced the designs to develop, which were at the forefront of experimental design.

The Next 50 Years

New Model Family ‘Isola’

The Isola model family was the first all new model family in the company’s history and a key part of the next half-century plan for the brand. This all new design of an ‘Open Bow’ full walk around layout was launched with the Isola 33 and powered by outboard engines. It was important to our owners and potential clients that the Isola family could also be specified with stern drive propulsion to retain a more elegant silhouette along with the swimming platform.

2019-20

New Model Family ‘Breva’

The Breva model family are the Comitti boats for the next generation of Comitti owner. With contemporary styling they compliment & contrast perfectly alongside our more traditional Venezia model family. The Brevas will allow the Comitti brand to expand into new markets and broaden the companies appeal to a younger demographic of owner, whilst offering a timeless design that is not subject to the fashionable ‘come & go’ trends of marine design.
